We are trying out a new part of our BrandlandUSA site. It is the BrandlandUSA Forum, where readers can log under a pseudonym (or their own name, of course) and comment on brand names that they love.
Share questions, promote ideas and even post employment ads. Companies can create links to their products, and consumers can talk about whatever they please.
Register (think of a great pen name if you like) and post some stuff.
Certainly, it's a crappy time for SUVs. But this is America. We need them, especially ones made by the company, Navistar, founded by Cyrus McCormick. Read our piece called "Relaunch the International Scout in our post on BrandlandUSA.com.
They brought Barnum to the stage at the Asolo Rep in Sarasota, Florida last fall. Why not bring spin-off Barnum and bring it back as a carnival sideshow? Want to read more about circus brands? See our post on our main BrandlandUSA.com website.

A year ago, we wrote a piece on the need to restore the World's Fair site in Queens. It needs work, and needs an identity that takes advantage of the history, but does not try to re-create what was.
Amazingly, pieces of the 1964 New York World’s Fair are still around, and draw interest. Not only is the park there, with all its pieces (museum, marina) but pieces of the fair are scattered about the United States, still drawing attendance. This is proof that the idea of the park still has legs.
* It’s a Small World lives at Walt Disney World and Disneyland. * Carousel of Progress is at Walt Disney World’s Tomorrowland. * The Sinclair Dinosaur Uncle Beazley is displayed at the National Zoo, lovingly restored by Smithsonian officials who recognized how much these dino-gas figures are loved. * Dinosaur Valley State Park preserves other Sinclair dinosaurs. * The Uniroyal World’s Largest Tire lives in Michigan.
Here, a little AMF Bowling pre-Christmas promotion, connected to DreamWorks' Madagascar. The reverse gives a free bowling game for 10, as well as a promo for the Madagascar Bowling Club. Keeping bowling fresh, and making it a great family activity, are exactly what the brand needs to do.
Tasty stuff, this A1 and Lea & Perrins. They are classic brands that don't change a thing. EVER. That is rule one of branding. When you have something classic, don't mess it up.
Above, an interior of a Chrysler Newport Royal; the date is uncertain but it is CERTAINLY 1970s.

Since the merger of Delta and Northwest, both brand names should survive. Delta would do well to protect the intellectual property of the Northwest brand and use the name, or risk losing it to a startup. And remember Delta, that ditching Northwest won't make airline fuel any cheaper! February 15, 2007 post, "Why the Northwest Name Should Survive."

BRANDLANDUSA 10 MOST MISSED BRANDS
1. Bell System While we have AT&T and Baby Bells, why don't more regional Bells use the logo they are entitled to use.
9. Peck and Peck, (the most special New York department chain, once an adjective, ought to live as a boutique or store brand, at least). It has been spotted at Stein Mart, of late.
10. Radio Shack's missing store brands (where are Optimus, Realistic and Archer?)
